Phil and Lyndell are officially "hitched", having exchanged marriage vows at Vlasoff Cay (or Middle Cay) at approximately 10am on Monday 19 January, 2009.

We ran away to get married to keep it simple. In many ways, the decision to elope was one of the easiest, however it brought with it complications we never imagined. More than anything, we hated concealing our plans from you, our friends and family. So, we kept this blog not only as part of our big "reveal" but also so that those of you who are interested could recount our experiences in planning our special day, if you choose.

Lunch with my alibi

Of course, I usually call her Kath, my cousin. Kath was one of the ones that didn't beat around the bush.

"Are you still going to elope?" she asked in her usual up front form.

"If I told you, it wouldn't be eloping, would it?" I retorted. A response which she accepted as absolute truth.

We had decided a little while ago that if we needed an alibi, Kath and Pete would be a good one. We do from time to time go up to Toowoomba to visit for the night, and they don't know any of our friends well enough for them to check up.

Kath has known for years that I've always wanted to elope. I'm sure in the absence of being my bridesmaid, she would be honoured to be our alibi...
