Phil and Lyndell are officially "hitched", having exchanged marriage vows at Vlasoff Cay (or Middle Cay) at approximately 10am on Monday 19 January, 2009.

We ran away to get married to keep it simple. In many ways, the decision to elope was one of the easiest, however it brought with it complications we never imagined. More than anything, we hated concealing our plans from you, our friends and family. So, we kept this blog not only as part of our big "reveal" but also so that those of you who are interested could recount our experiences in planning our special day, if you choose.

We're here!

Despite the dress shopping, the breakfast planning, and the close call with the fake-practice-planning Hens Night, none of it really seemed real to me until we touched down in Cairns.

As we flew in over the rainforest-covered-mountains that border the FNQ capital, it felt like home. It always does to me, for some strange reason. I was born in Townsville, but haven't lived there since I was a toddler. My Dad spent a lot of time in FNQ and my mother grew up here. So maybe it's in my blood?

Whatever the reason, I knew we had chosen the right location for our wedding.

Phil spotted a sandy Cay in the ocean as we flew in. We excitedly craned our necks to keep it in view for as long as we could... it'll look even better from the chopper tomorrow!!!
